3 Reasons You Should Start Juicing Right Now

Have you juiced lately?

No, I’m not talking about steroids!

And I’m not talking about buying some of that bottled green stuff at the grocery story (you know the stuff that you think looks healthy, but probably doesn’t taste very good, so you always walk past it).

If you’re still wondering what the heck I’m talking about, don’t worry, just keep reading.

I’m talking about making your own juices, that sort of look like the one’s in the grocery store, but are much better for you. Oh and much tastier too!

So what is juicing?

You are probably wondering what juicing is. Well, to keep it simple, juicing is just the process of converting fresh fruits and vegetables using a juicer or blender into liquid, drinkable form.

Why should I juice?

Good question. The answer is simple. Every time you juice fresh fruits and veggies, you are providing your body with powerful liquid energy in a glass. 

Because we live in such a fast pace environment, we rarely have time to consume anything that isn’t “quick” or “easy.” Unfortunately, convenience foods come at a price. They lack nutrition. And with the lack of nutrition our bodies are more susceptible to common illnesses and disease.

Juicing is a wonderful way to fill your body with needed nutrients to prevent sickness from setting in. Not to mention, juicing has the ability to revitalize and restore you to proper health and vitality.

To make this a little more personal, when I first learned about juicing, I was suffering from chronic pain.

While turmeric and ginger are incredible for dealing with the inflammation (which is a key contributor to pain). I learned that different fruits and vegetables have different healing powers.

Let’s get back to the basics.

A common question I was asked when I started juicing was “Why don’t you just eat the fruits and vegetables instead of juicing?”

My response, “You try eating all those fruits and veggies in one sitting everyday.”

My current daily juice consists of: 

  • ½ an apple
  • ½ a cucumber
  • Small piece of turmeric root
  • Small piece of ginger root
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • 1 large carrot
  • Handful of kale

Eating all of these may be doable, but surely not enjoyable on a daily basis. Besides, there are actually proven benefits to juicing over consuming fruits and veggies whole.

 

1. Raw Nutrition

Fruits and vegetables provide the most nutrition in their raw form; not cooked. Believe it or not, the chemical process that occurs while cooking actually changes the molecular structure of the food, making it foreign to the body.

The process of cooking also destroys the nutrients of the foods. Therefore it’s best to consume fruits and veggies in their raw form if possible. It’s in their raw form where they are loaded with micro-nutrients (vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants) to help heal and protect the body.

 

2. Easy Digestion and Assimilation

Our digestive system is tasked with the burden of breaking down everything we eat and converting it to fuel for our body. When we consume solid foods, it requires several hours for our body to digest.

Whereas juicing separates the water and nutrients from the fiber of the fruits and veggies, allowing the body to assimilate the micro-nutrients in minutes and with little effort from the digestive system. With juicing, you’re essentially streamlining the digestive process while providing your body with loads of micro-nutrients in the fastest way possible.

 

3. Increased Energy

As you can imagine, the digestive process needs to tap into your bodies energy supply in order to do its job. The more difficult the job, the more energy used, which can leave you feeling tired and sluggish.

By juicing, you effectively bypass the digestive process (for the most part), requiring less energy and in return leaving you more refreshed and energized than ever before.

If you’ve read this far, it’s obvious that juicing provides numerous health benefits. In addition, juicing is also a great alternative for detoxing and weight loss too.

But it is important to understand that in order to receive the greatest benefits from juicing, it really should be used in combination with an already healthy diet. (Yes, that means you should continue to eat your fruits and vegetables too).

So whether you are in chronic pain, looking to lose weight or just looking for a boost of energy, you should start juicing right now!
